Bluefish

Fished with Lou, Steve, and Chris in the bay. Things were a bit tough but we caught a few blues. Pro Tip: Stay confidant. Sometimes the last hour of a trip is when things happen.

Back Bay Bass

Fished with Doug in the bay. We had some blue fish, fluke, and a nice striper. Pro Tip: Spring time is the best time to catch fluke, bluefish, stripers, and weakfish in one trip in the bay.

More Stripers and Weakfish

Fished with Jay and Jake in the bay. We had lots of small stripers, a few weakfish, and the first flounder of the year. The action was good and tons of fun on the right tackle. Pro Tip: Pay attention to what you were doing right before a bite. Replicate that retrieve. Program yourself to remember what triggered the bite. Don't forget in the excitement of catching a fish.

Stripers and Weakfish

Fished with the Mikes. The spring action is here and the fishing is good. We had constant action with small stripers and decent sized weakfish. The action was very good. Pro Tip: Slow is key for early season fish. However, always experiment. Different species like different retrieves.

Spring Bass

Doug and I headed out to do some prospecting. It was my first trip out in New Jersey this spring. My trips to Florida and the cold weather delayed my progress. Anyway, enough excuses. We found the schoolie bass and released over a dozen up to 24". Pro Tip: Water temp is always important. Even a few degrees warmer in the spring makes a huge difference.

Islamorada Day 3

Fished with Joe our last day in Islamorada. We caught a bunch of jacks, snappers, runners, and yellow jacks before calling it a day. It has been a great season in the Keys. Pro Tip: Book Keys trips early. I typically book my winter keys trips between September and December.

Islamorada Day 2

Fished with Joe on day 2 in Islamorada. We hit the flats and scored a bunch of lemon sharks while sight fishing. We also had a few bonnethead sharks mixed in. We then switched over and caught mangrove snappers, lookdowns, groupers, blue runners, yellow jacks, and jack crevalles. Lots of action and beautiful weather, what else can you ask for? Pro Tip: Keep and wire to leader connections out of the rod tips prior to casting. Wind knots and short casts are the best things that can happen from that mistake.
