Fluke on Jigs

Fished with Chris and Ken last night in the bay. It was a bit breezier than I would have liked and conditions were tough. We caught some fluke on jigs and had an enjoyable evening.

Big Blues and Fluke

Fished with Dave, Linda, Max, and Ashley in the bay. Fishing has been great. We had blues to 11 pounds, fluke to four pounds, and a striper. All on jigs and we released everything. The average sized bluefish in the bay has been huge with most fish over five pounds. We were not fly fishing but these fish can also be caught on the flyrod. I wouldn't wait to get in on this.

The Big Blues are Here

Fished with John, Raj, Nate, and Dan in the bay. The big blues have arrived in force! We caught and released big blues to over ten pounds on jigs. The average size of these fish is amazing for the bay in the spring. We also caught and released the first fluke of the year as well. The fish are here and the catching is great.

Florida Farewell

Patty and I went and got the boat this past weekend from the keys. We were pressed for time so we only finished a day and a half. We headed out onto the flats to hunt sharks and tarpon. We ended up with several nice lemon sharks plus a few big bonnet head sharks. I caught a few lemon sharks on the fly. The rest we caught on shrimp and cut bait. All sight fishing. We had several shots at at tarpon, mostly baby tarpon, but none would eat. We headed back to town and we ended up catching several large jacks and I broke off two tarpon in the passes on jigs. The following morning we headed it out and caught a bunch of big jacks and a cero mackerel. We left them biting and prepared for the long drive home. As soon as this lousy weather at home quits the fish should be here in force.
