Flyrod Blues

Fished with the Stewarts last night. We were flyroding the flats with poppers. The guys caught four or five blues and we missed a nice striper. It was a beautiful evening.

Memorial Day Slam

Fished with the Mikes today. Started off catching a bunch of fluke to four pounds. Moved onto the flats and caught several bluefish on poppers. Big Mike completed the slam with a striper on a popper. Great way to spend a day on the holiday weekend. Best part is we were by ourselves most of the day.

Weakfish and Blues

Got out again with my good friend Capt. Chris. The trout continue to chew. We also had a bunch of blues mixed in. All on the fly. Great time! If you look closely at the bottom three pics you will see other weakfish following the hooked fish! Pretty cool.

Weakfish

My buddy Capt. Chris Goldmark (www.culebraflyfishing.com) called me up the other day and asked me to come down for a busmen's holiday and fish with him. I readily agreed and met him this afternoon. We had a great afternoon catching weakfish on the fly. We also had a few blues as well. The weakfishing reminded me of the good old days. Are the weakfish making a comeback???

Back Bay Variety Pack

Fished today with Mike, Mike, and Ken. We put in a marathon day and covered all the bases. First thing this morning we had a striper on a jig. We moved on and caught a bunch of fluke with three keepers. We also had two bluefish. Next, we anchored up and caught another striper and a bunch of big sandsharks, some of which were over ten pounds.

Friday Evening Fluke

Fished Friday evening with Mike. The wind was howling, but we managed to catch a bunch of fluke with some keepers mixed in as well. The fluke bite continues to be good.

First Fluke

Took Dusty and Little Dusty out tonight. Little Dusty caught his first two fluke all by himself! It is always cool to see a kid catch his first fish all by himself. Dusty did a great job. We also had a 21 inch fluke and released a bunch. A weakfish also decided to join the party.

Bluefish

Fished yesterday afternoon with Tom and Alex. We had a couple of bluefish early but couldn't get the stripers to cooperate on the poppers. The wind made things difficult.

Seven Pound Fluke!

Fished with Darryl, Jenna, and Sean on Sunday. We had a fun morning catching fluke and bluefish. We ended up with four or five keeper fluke and released a bunch. Jenna had the fish of the day with her huge fluke that weighed in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and measured almost 27 inches! She did a great job bringing it in considering we all thought she was snagged at first!

Double Sided Fluke

A friend of mine caught this flounder on Saturday. Watch the video, it is pretty amazing. Normally flounder are brown on one side and white on the other. This flounder is brown on both sides. Very unusual. I have seen flounder with birthmarks on the white side but never one that was totally brown all over.

Windy and Cold

Fished with Joe and Greg on Sunday morning. We were flyfishing in less than perfect conditions. Fishing had been very good. Unfortunately, I think the cold easterly wind finally got to them. We gave it our all but came up empty.

Fluke Opening Day

Took two of my favorite fishing partners out for opening day. I needed two ringers so I brought my Dad and Uncle out for the day. We started our day releasing three stripers and a bluefish on poppers first thing. We also missed another ten bites. We moved on to fluke fishing. We ended up with five keepers to about three and a half pounds and released over twenty other fluke. I went back out at sunset with Dusty and we caught a striper and about a dozen bluefish on poppers and jigs.

Stripers on Poppers

Last night I snuck out with Joe and we caught a few fluke and moved onto the flats at sunset. We had bluefish and stripers swiping our plugs. We landed a fish or two and missed a couple of beauties. Tonight I snuck out with Doc and I had a plan. We ended up releasing a few nice stripers on poppers on the flats. We also had several strikes that we missed. They are here and eating in the fun way. Tomorrow is opening day of fluke season and fluke have been biting well.

Even More Trout!

Headed out tonight and immediately caught weakfish. Caught three trout fairly quickly. That is really awesome to see. The fluke bit as well. Fished all afternoon in a butterfly blizzard. I must have seen over two hundred butterflies this afternoon. At any given time, I had at least three butterflies in my field of view parading by.

More Trout

Caught another weakfish yesterday and lost a monster. Fluke bite was a little off yesterday with the cold and the cloud cover, but they still but well.
