Back Bay Mixed Bag

Fished yesterday with Mark and AJ in the bay. They wanted to experience different types of angling in the back bay. We started off catching fluke and the bite was good first thing in the morning. We switched over to jigs and the bite was tough but we caught a bluefish. Then when the wind picked up we anchored up and caught some nice sandsharks on clams.

More Blues

Fished with Joe and Jason in the bay. The wind was cranking but it was a very nice day. We had a steady pick is 2-4 pound blues on jigs. The bite was tough and we missed a bunch but we caught a bunch too. The fish of the day was a six pound blue and a 25" five pound fluke.

Six Pound Blue

Fished with the Mikes this morning. We caught blues to six pounds on jigs and the bite was very good at times. We also had a short fluke.

Back Bay Blues

Fished with David and Rich in the bay yesterday afternoon. We caught and released a bunch of blues in the 2-4 pound range on jigs. The bite was good but technique was needed. Luckily, we had some technique and we caught a bunch. Fun afternoon.

Four Pound Fluke

Fished with Mike, Ken, Collin, Morgan, and Luke in the bay. Fluke fishing was much slower than I would have liked but we caught a few and the fish of the day was a four pound fluke.

Stripers and Blues

Fished with Rich Sunday morning. The bluefish bite slowed from the previous day and we ended up with one or two. We changed gears and ended up finding a few stripers on poppers later in the trip. We missed a few and landed two.

16 Pound Bluefish

Fished with Rich, Shane, Devon, and Jake Saturday evening. We picked bluefish throughout the trip but we ended very strong with a flurry of ten pound plus blues at sunset. Shane caught the biggest fish of the trip: a SIXTEEN pound 37 inch bluefish. What a monster! That is a trophy fish anywhere but catching it in the back bay in the spring made it extra special!
