Blues and Stripers

Patty and I headed out in the ocean today to see if the bass were chewing. It was rough early so we delayed our start. We ended up with bass to about 36" and big blues to fifteen pounds. All on the troll.

Sea Bass

Tom, Patty, and I headed out sea bass fishing today. We loaded up. It was great with bites as soon as the bait hit bottom. Every drop. Lots of double headers too. We kept what we needed and let the rest go. We didn't keep our limit but we sure caught it. It was flat. Great day!

Wreck Fishing

Fished today with Mark and Dominic in the ocean. We hit the wrecks and caught a bunch of tog. We switched it up and tried some trolling for bass and came up empty. Just dogfish.

Monster Stargazer

Fished with Pat and friends yesterday. We struck out on the stripers but caught an eleven pound stargazer on the troll. Not exactly a target species, but interesting. We switched gears and hit a wreck and caught tog and sea bass to round out the day.

Night Bite

Did a little shore fishing with my buddy Chuck a few nights ago. He caught this nice keeper and a short.

Back in Sea Isle

I have made the transition from Montauk back to fishing Sea Isle full time. The back bay fishing for stripers is really good right now. The flats are producing fish on jigs, flies, and poppers. In the ocean, the wreck fishing has been a blast and there are good numbers of tog and sea bass around with a few triggers mixed in. Also, we are beginning to see some schools of blues and the stripers are not far behind. Once November is officially here, we can see blitzes any day. Book your striper trips now, because once "they're here" I may not have any openings left. And remember, the striper bite continues well into December.

Montauk Finale

Patty and I fished in Montauk for my final weekend up there. There was a bit of a swell on from the hurricane that hit Bermuda but it was very fishable and the fishing was good. The albie bite was hot and we released about sixteen albies. Ten on the fly and six on spinning rods. We also had a few bluefish. No stripers. The albie bite was excellent this year.
