Islamorada
I will be fishing in Islamorada Florida for the winter. Weekend trips are available and accommodations can be arranged for fishing in the keys. Fly down Friday, fish Saturday and Sunday, fly home Sunday night. Great way to escape the cold.

Thanksgiving Tradition
Fished on Thanksgiving with Harry, Harry Jr. and Dusty. Headed out at daybreak to the ocean. We had a good morning jigging up over a dozen stripers to 18 pounds, two huge bluefish, and dozens of dogsharks. We were home before 11am to attend our respective holiday dinners. Great way to celebrate the day.

Stripers and Blues in the Fly
Fished today with Peter G. Peter flyfished and had both bass and blues on the long rod. I had a bunch of fish on the jig. We ended up with between 12-15 fish. Equal numbers bass and blues. It was good but not as great as it has been. No bird plays today. We had a consistent pick of fish most of the morning.

Banner Day
Fished with Mike and Mike "Ace" S. Went out in the ocean looking for stripers. We found them. We ended up with well over 25 stripers to 18 pounds, 6 blues that averaged around 15 pounds, two fluke, and one spiny dogfish. All fish were released. Bird plays and triple headers were a common occurrence today.

Tough Day
Fished today with the Harrys and friends. Very windy. Tried for some bigger fish in the back with fresh bunker. Ended up with some spiny dogs for our effort. I can't wait for the fish to show out front. We had fun in spite of the fish!

Flyrod Stripers
Fished with Mike R. in the backbay. Mike released two stripers on the fly and I had one on a jig. The bite was not as good as yesterday. We also saw a seal on the ride home, very unusual for the fall as I usually see them in the spring.

Hot Back Bay Bite
Fished today with Dave W. At the first stop on the third cast we had a strike on a popper but missed. The frustration continued as several bass crashed the lures but wouldn't commit. We moved and settled into another spot as the tide began to ebb. We had several bites and landed a couple of bass on poppers but missed a bunch. We switched over to soft plastics and the response was immediate. The fish responded much better to the soft plastics and we ended up pulling around 15 stripers from 24-27" out of the same hole. During one stretch we caught a fish on four consecutive casts. Then we hit another spot and caught a bass on our first five casts. Totals: over 30 bites and around 18-20 stripers made it to the boat before being released. A great day in the bay.
