Ten Keeper Fluke

Headed out in the bay yesterday on a spontaneous trip with Rich, Scott, Ryan, Chris, and Patty. The weather man said it was going to be lousy. Wrong again. It was beautiful. We found the fluke chewing like crazy. We caught ten keepers and over fifty total fluke. Ryan had a double header fluke, that's not something you see every trip. Rich caught two keepers in a row on two separate casts less than a minute apart. We had a few double and even triple headers. I guess they were hungry! It was very good.

Ocean Fluke

Fished with Brian and crew today in the ocean. We had a pick of fluke. The fish of the day was a a four pound fluke. The ocean bite is starting to pick up...

Back Bay Fluke

Fished with Lee and Kevin in the bay for fluke. The bite has improved some and when the tide was moving we had action. We moved out into the ocean and caught a few sea bass and tog which we released.

Flats Stripers

Fished with Joe on the flats for stripers on Wednesday. We had several bites and managed two to the boat. The tides are great the next few days for this fishing. These stripers bite all summer long on the right tides.

Yellowfin Tuna

Luc, Trevor, Jay, Bob, and I headed offshore for tuna. We had a great early bite and caught nine or ten yellowfin. Most were on the small side but we had a decent fish or two mixed in. Sushi!

The Sharks are Here!

Jay, Ryan, Luc, Trevor, and I fished for sharks yesterday in the ocean. They are here. The fish of the day was a nice hammerhead shark that Luc caught. We also landed dusky sharks as well and saw another hammerhead. It's almost shark week on TV but it's shark week all summer in Sea Isle!

Five Pound Fluke

Fished with Todd and Dave yesterday morning in the bay. We hit the flats first and caught a striper on a popper. Then we switched over to jigs and we caught blues and fluke. The biggest fluke was between five and six pounds. We also had another keeper. We also caught a bunch of shorts.

Stripers on the Flats

Fished with Paul and Ivers on the flats Thursday night. We had four or five stripers on the flats before we changed gears. We switched over to jigs and caught fluke and blues. The biggest blue was about six pounds. The flats fishing has been pretty decent this ride cycle and that should continue all summer long.

Sharks!

Shark fishing is already happening and our inshore sharking will be getting underway very shortly. Last year sharking started off with a bang. Our first trip was on June 15 and it was epic so the fish are probably here and waiting for us to get after them!  The inshore sharks range from 20-150 pounds typically and can be caught on bait and on the fly!  It is very common to catch ten or more sharks in a six hour trip. You don't want to miss out on this!  I strongly recommend going back to last summers posts if you still need more convincing!  Here is a link to a video showing us flyfishing for the sharks. Enjoy. Fished Sunday morning with Doug in the bay. We started off catching fluke. The bite was good but no keepers. Then we moved on and caught some bluefish to six pounds on jigs. We finished off the morning by releasing five or six stripers to 27". A nice variety of fish for the morning.

Fished with Darryl, Sean, and Jenna in the bay Saturday morning. We caught a bunch of fluke, some blues, and we went after some big sandsharks by special request. We had action throughout the tide. It was a beautiful day.
