More Mass Bass

Here are some more pics from the Mass road trip. We caught mostly stripers but there were a few blues in the river as well on the flood tide. Ryan caught a nice 33" fourteen pound fish on a lure all by himself.

Back Bay Fluke

Fished with Emmit, Emmit, Josh, and Nate in the bay. We caught a couple of fluke and headed out into the ocean to check out the dolphins. Fishing was less productive than I would have liked but we had a good time.

Thirty Plus Pound Striper

Took a road trip to Massachusetts to fish Joppa Flats. Patty caught this wicked huge monstah stripah on ten pound mono and a swimming plug. The bass crushed the lure at the side of the boat and actually greyhounded after the strike, coming completely out of the water. She then ran off fifty plus yards of line and wasn't stopping until I chased her down with the boat. After about ten minutes we had her boat side. The fish completely bottomed out my thirty pound boga grip and approached forty pounds. I did not measure the length because we were in a hurry to release the fish. She swam away to fight another day.

Warm Water Visitors

Fished with Kevin and Zack Sunday afternoon. We picked at the fluke and tried to see if there were any big sandsharks around. Instead, this big stingray tried to wrestle Zack out of the boat. Zack emerged triumphant and we got some cool pics. The ray was way over fifty pounds.

Another Fluke for Ace

Back in Town

Fished with Mike and Ace Sunday morning. No rest for the weary. We picked away at the fluke and as usual Ace beat us all. Giving me a complex...

Post Storm Smooth Sailing

29 knots the following day.

Sights Along The Way

We saw some amazing things as we proceeded through Norfolk, VA. Note the sub, aircraft carrier, and tug in dry dock. We had to lay over in Norfolk due to a huge thunderstorm over the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. Lightning and forty mile gusts greeted us. It was not a tough decision to lay up for the night. We were located in the blue crosshairs. More storms followed throughout the night.

Catching Up

I'm back and need to catch up on the blog. So busy, it's been tough to keep up. These pictures are of Great Bridge and the Great Bridge Lock in the canal. We had to lick through due to the difference in water levels on either side of the lock. Pretty neat. Note the doors on either side of the lock.

Coinjock

Okay. Trivia question. Where in the world is Coinjock? Go ahead, look it up. There are three things in Coinjock: a bar, a decent resturant, and a fuel dock. Perfect. I left Sunday from Stuart, Florida. We spent Sunday night in St. Augustine, Florida. Monday we went to Charleston, South Carolina. We had a bit of engine trouble and spent an extra day in Charlston. Then we went to my favorite port of call, Beaufort, NC. Today we went through Pamlico Sound and ended up in Coinjock.

Boat Delivery

I'm delivering a boat from Stuart, Florida back to New Jersey. That's why there haven't been that many fishing reports. I'm currently in Charleston, South Carolina. We left Stewart on Sunday morning and ended up in St. Augustine, Florida that evening. The following day we made the run from St. Augustine to Charleston, South Carolina. Hopefully today will be heading to Beaufort, North Carolina. the bottom pictures the boat I'm delivering. The helicopter picture is of the Coast Guard doing practice rescues in Charleston Harbor. The red sailboat hailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Blues and Stripers

The wind has been a problem this week. The fish have been there but the conditions have been tough. I went out last night and despite the wind found the blues and bass eager to bite. Caught a few bass and blues and called it a night.

Yellowfin

Fished with Richard on Saturday. We caught some nice yellowfin tuna and had a great day.

Sushi

Fished with Tom and Brian Sunday in the canyons. We had a blast catching yellowfin tuna on the troll. At some points we had five or six on at a time. We kept seven and were back at the dock before 2. Very calm day.

Sea Bass

Fished with George and his son George. We went out front and did some reef fishing. The conditions were not great. It was windy and a little sloppy. We had a great time catching sea bass and bluefish before heading home. The highlight of the day was George Sr.'s triple header. I should have rigged him with more hooks!
