Fished with Ted, Ted, Garret, Julie, Mike, and Trevor in the bay. We had constant action with fluke for the entire four hours. This is fun fishing with only a few minutes between bites. We ended the day with two keepers. We released over forty fish again for the second day in a row. Tons of fun!
Fished Sunday with the Mikes. They brought their A game and we Mohawked the fluke in the bay. We had fish all afternoon and we released over forty fluke. We ended our four hour trip with six keepers. The fluke fishing has been great. The fish are settled and biting very well.
Fished today with Jim and Dave. We headed out to fly fish for sharks. We ended up with 9 flyrod shark releases up to 120 pounds! Jim had the big fish of the day and Dave had one that was also over 100 pounds. We had numerous fish around the boat the last half of the day. Today we only caught dusky sharks from 25-120 pounds. We had over 100 yards of backing out multiple times. It's a good day when your arms hurt from reeling in fish!
Fished with Darryl and crew yesterday for sharks. The bite was on and we released 18 blacktip, brown, and dusky sharks up to 80 pounds. I have no picks yet because some how I left my phone at home! Pictures to follow.
Fished with Bernard, Dennis, and Maurice in the bay for fluke on Friday. We caught a bunch of shorts and had two keeper fluke. One keeper was three and a half pounds and the other was four pounds. The fluke fishing is picking back up!
Fished with Jim and Tim today. We headed out to catch some sharks on the fly. The wind picked up just enough to give us the perfect drift. The sharks showed up in good numbers. And they were huge! We released a blacktip and a nice dusky on the fly. We had tons of shots and broke off at least ten others. The biggest issue today was the sharks were much bigger than average. We broke off one that was over 100 pounds easy. At one point we had over seven sharks in the slick at once. If we were bait fishing we would have had at least twenty releases today with no problem. There were good numbers of blacktips mixed in with the enormous duskys.
In the afternoon on Tuesday I took Ryan out for some back bay fluke. The calm conditions brought the fluke out biting. We both hooked up as soon as we reached the bottom. In a little over an hour we ended up with over twelve fluke and had two keepers. The clean water and calm conditions proved perfect to get them biting.
Fished with Barry, Chris, Tom, Steve, and Amed yesterday. We headed out sharking with just fly rods in our hands. We ended up fighting and releasing five dusky sharks to 75 pounds on the fly! This was all sight fishing and we watched each bite and hook up. What a blast. It is amazing to watch a shark inhale nothing but the hair and steel that makes up a fly.
Fished yesterday with Bruce, Courtney, Travis, and Dylan in the bay. We ended up with five keeper fluke that averaged close to three pounds each. Plus we released a bunch of shorts. We also released a sand shark that was over fifteen pounds. It was a great day.
Fished with John and family today. We had a blast releasing 18 dusky and brown sharks. The biggest dusky was a little over 100 pounds! Towards the end if the trip it was one right after another for a while. The numbers and size of these fish make this the most fun inshore of the canyon. We are not running real far for these fish. It makes for a very enjoyable day.
Fished yesterday with Chris, Maryann, and family. We had a great time releasing twelve dusky and brown sharks up to around 45 pounds. The shark fishing has been the best show in town. Fishing has been excellent.
