Flyfishing Islamorada

Fished this weekend with Peter in Islamorada. We fly fished all weekend. We caught jacks, cudas, speckled trout, lady fish, snappers, and more. On Sunday we sight fished for sharks on the flats. We had three bites and one 80 pound lemon shark that we hooked and fought on the fly for a while before he pulled the hook. It was quite a show.

Flyrod Variety

I fished solo Sunday. A rarity. I took it easy and stayed close. I wanted to Flyfish and broke out the long rod. I caught jacks, snappers, and lookdowns. Lots of action on the trusty seven weight and sinking lines. Shrimp flies and clousers were the order of the day.

Cape Sable Snook

Took my two favorite fishing partners to Cape Sable on Saturday. My Dad and Uncle made the trip to Florida to sample some of the fishing that the Everglades has to offer. We caught snook, black drum, speckled trout, jacks, and lady fish in the Backcountry. We had a blast.

Tarpon Jumping

This is a cool short video of one of the tarpon from the other weekend. The tarpon eventually breaks off but it is some really good footage. Stay with it because there is a slow motion part that is neat.

Several Snook

Fished today with Brooke and Jason. We had better conditions today. We headed to Cape Sable and found the big snook chewing. We released over ten big snook with a few over ten pounds. We also released a redfish. We headed back to Islamorada and rounded out the day with nonstop action with jacks. We left them biting and headed home.

Jacks!

Fished yesterday with Brooke and Jason in Islamorada. We had windy conditions but we had a good day anyway. We caught a ton of jacks, a few snook, and a black drum. We made one last stop and jumped three tarpon and had five other bites. Unfortunately, all the fish either threw the hook or broke off. But that's tarpon fishing sometimes.
