Stripers on the Fly

Fished with Ed and Scott S. We were flyfishing. Windy conditions made things tough initially but it subsided as the sun went down. We ended up with a few stripers and a bluefish.

Inshore Sharking 2010 Video

This is a video from an inshore sharking trip from last summer. This fishing takes place in July and August every summer. We fish fairly close to shore and use chum to entice these fish to the boat. We typically catch brown and dusky sharks from 15-90 pounds on spinning rods. It is a blast! We have also hooked other species of sharks including blacktips, hammerheads, and even a great white! This is a phenomenal opportunity to catch a big fish close to shore. This is catch and release only. Pictures last a lifetime. We also flyfish for these sharks when conditions permit.

Stripers and Prime Tides

Fished with Derrick and Michele. Derrick had never caught a striper before and wanted to. So we did. Derrick landed his first bass and eight more to 27 inches for a total of nine. He also had two others on and a bluefish that came unbuttoned before we got it to the boat. All fish were caught on poppers while poling the flats. Great tides for the next several days.

Ocean Variety

Fished with Sonny and Drew. Went into the ocean and immediately had bluefish swarming around the boat. We either had a bite or fish on every cast. We then switched over and caught a few bruiser triggers. The day was rounded out by bottom fishing and we had some nice fluke. Beautiful morning.

Ocean Fun

Fished with Jay and Luc in the ocean. We caught over a dozen triggers both on the fly and on bait. We also caught a bunch of blues and some fluke. Luc has been practicing flyfishing this spring and wanted to catch his first fish on the fly. Luc caught a searobin on the fly in short order. Lots of fun.

Canyon Pics

Dusty L and crew with a nice canyon trip last week. Dolphin, tuna, white marlin, and a few nice tilefish to cap off a great day.

Fluke and Blues

Fished with Eric G. Started off finding a mad dog bluefish bite. We were catching small blues on almost ever cast for over an hour. We were using spinning tackle but these fish on the fly would have been a sure thing. Headed to a different spot and switched over to bottom fishing. The fluke bit well and we had several that were close to keeper size but none made the cut.

Stripers Still Here

This was today on the top of the tide. Great evening tides this week into next for fishing the flats with poppers.

School is out and I'm back...

I'm now available every day. Fluke fishing is good. We will have great tides for stripers later this week and early next week. Canyon fishing has been superb with tuna, marlin, and mahi all available. Inshore shark fishing is just getting started. That will be excellent throughout July and August.

Backbay Report

Stripers are biting well on the top of the tide on the flats on poppers. It has been a good week. Flounder fishing has been steadily improving with each passing day. Keepers are hard to come by but the numbers are good and it's lots of fun. I'm out of school now so I'm available during the week now. The tuna fishing continues to be good offshore. Today we had two stripers and over 15 fluke in a short period of time.

Stripers on the Fly

Fished with Peter R and Ona. Peter wanted to catch stripers on the fly so we did. We had a great tide and good conditions and the fish cooperated. Peter caught multiple stripers on the fly in shallow water on poppers and had several bites. Great visual strikes. Ona also had a nice fish. There is a great tide the next few evenings. I'm open Sunday if anyone is interested. Fishing had been good.

Once Again...

Fished with Dad today for an hour or so. Of course on the first drop he hooks this nice fluke. I'll be hearing about that fish for awhile, along with all the other big ones he has caught. We had several others as well. Fluking has been improving each day.

Stripers on the Flats

Fished today with Marshall B and Heather. The northwest winds did what they were supposed to. They blew out all that hot water and the bay got a good flush. Water temps dropped from 85 to 65 and that put the bass on the feed. We had 8 or 9 strikes and got four fish to the boat. I lost a keeper bass on a popper before getting it to the boat. We also had bluefish. Things are back on in the bay.

Tuna Bite

The canyons are on fire. Today there was an awesome yellowfin bite. Boats had up to 25 tuna by noon. If you are interested in getting offshore, give me a call. I will be offering make up charters for people that want to get offshore. Stay tuned. That way you can just join my crew for the day!
